Pilate Classes

Pilate Classes aim to strengthen your body in an even way, particularly on the core strength improving general fitness. Exercises are performed on a mat and offer people of all ages and levels of fitness from beginners to professional athletes.

Regular pilates practise helps improve your muscle tone, balance, posture and joint mobility, also relieving stress and tension. Even athletes and dancers for an example can benefit from pilate classes as they complement their training by developing whole body strength and flexibility, and help reduce the risk of injury.

Zoe has over 17 years experience in mat based Pilates which are suitable for all age ranges and abilities. The overall aim and general outcomes are that you will increase muscle strength and tone, improve stabilisation of your spine, improve physical coordination and balance, just to name a few.

What is involved in a class?

The classes involves a series of exercises that are performed on the floor using a mat, gravity and your own body weight. The main aim is to condition the deeper, supporting muscles of your body to improve posture, balance and coordination. The use of bands, hoops and weighted balls may be used.

By maintaining proper breathing, correct spinal and pelvic alignment, along with concentration on smooth, flowing movement, you become acutely in tune with your body. You will learn how to control its movement and maximise your overall ability.

In pilates the quality of movement is more important over the quantity of repetitions. Correct breathing is essential which helps you execute maneuvers with maximum power and efficiency. Learning to breathe properly also has the benefit of helping to reduce your stress levels.
